Sometimes the term retentivity is used for remanence measured in units of magnetic flux density.

Gives more retentivity to the track.

This material has a wide hysteresis loop (high retentivity), meaning once it is magnetized in a given direction, it requires a large reverse magnetic field to reverse the magnetization.

This work also lead to mass spectrometric investigations of the Oklo natural nuclear reactor to better understand the diffusion and retentivity of various fission products in the context of managing man-made nuclear waste.

The software also runs what is called a monthly automatic test, during which "every single byte and bit on the hard disk, occupied or not, is being tested for reading and writing ability, soft error rate, track alignment and magnetic retentivity - and automatically repaired if necessary."
