Appetition, or appetite, is a longing for or seeking after something.

Kāma often implies the short form of the word kāmanā (desire, appetition).

He distances himself from the Socratic position by locating the breakdown of reasoning in an agent's opinion, not his appetition.

Aristotle distinguishes desire into appetition and volition.

We must later clear up these points, but at present it may be enough to say that all animals that possess the sense of touch have also appetition.
