But instead, the Senator told a bit of his personal story.
And who knew what else the American senator was telling.
What the senators and their staff have never told us is why, exactly, we need such a law.
"Think about that for a moment," the Senator told several hundred office workers at an insurance company.
"The campaign will be decided on how many mistakes he makes," this senator told me.
It is not known what the Senator told the grand jury.
"I have been changed by this election experience," the senator told reporters recently.
"Nothing else will work unless we have a growing, sound economy," the Senator told a small group of supporters.
"I think that's where they are," the senator told her later.
But he noted that the senator has not told him or others to stop talking about the prospect.
