Voiced labiodental fricatives or glides - all the same to Germans?

The voiced labiodental fricative is a type of consonantal sound used in some spoken languages.

Arabic letter و is realized as a voiced labiodental fricative [v].

Features of the voiced labiodental fricative:

In most languages which use a Latin alphabet, v has a [v]-like sound (voiced labiodental fricative).

Native speakers of those languages in which the sound is not present often have difficulty enunciating or distinguishing it, and replace it with a voiced alveolar sibilant, a voiced dental stop, or a voiced labiodental fricative (known respectively as th-alveolarization, th-stopping, and th-fronting).
