The station remains popular and many locals commute to Belfast via the station each morning.

The nearby road was diverted via an overbridge and the single platformed station with signalbox, ticket office, etc built on its old course.

After construction was completed, the circular rail tracks were aligned as before, now via the new station.

Alternatively, the tram can run via the main station (or other routes) in the case of congestion.
