The company started services in 1883 with horse drawn tramway services.

Steam traction ceased in 1893, after which there was no tramway service until 1895.

The tramway service closed on 15 May 1929.

Horse drawn tramway services started on 28 April 1879.

The tramway service closed on 29 February 1929.

An electricity power station was built, and an electric tramway service was introduced in 1897.

The first electric tramway services started on 5 March 1904.

The first electric tramway services started on 13 June 1904.

Although bus services were started, they never impinged on the tramway services.

The tramway service closed on 27 March 1937 but the company continued to supply electrical power to the district for domestic and commercial consumption.
