Squadrons of young aides are readying their speed-dialers to summon lawmakers back to vote on one or more articles of impeachment the week of Dec. 14.

Assemblyman Sean F. Dalton of Elk Township said yesterday that he has urged Assembly Speaker Jack Collins to summon lawmakers back to the State House this summer for hearings.

Today he threatened to summon lawmakers to Albany repeatedly to patch up holes in the budget.

Based on the recommendation, the speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and the president of the Florida Senate were expected to summon lawmakers to the Capitol for a special session starting as early as Tuesday.

In its early years, the Liberty Bell was used to summon lawmakers to legislative sessions and to alert citizens to public meetings and proclamations.

However, legislative leaders have hinted that, if the Governor vetoes a bill on hospital reimbursements, as the State Health Department is urging him to do, they may summon lawmakers back in an effort to override the veto.

But Republican leaders switched signals, even after President Bush summoned lawmakers to the White House and lobbied them to support a Republican version of the bill, opposed by almost all Democrats in the House.
