This project forms part of a Ph.D research on the development of Greenland's shrimp fishing and processing industry.

This village has a pony club, a small supermarket, a sailing club, tennis court, French bakery, beach, shrimp fishing, a youth hostel and more.

Rates of bycatch are unusually high for shrimp fishing, with the capture of sea turtles being especially contentious.

Their business include shrimp fishing, processing, import and export of fresh and frozen fish products.

During this time, shrimp fishing was mostly done by women with nets in the tidal gullies of the Wadden Sea.

During the 1960s and 1970s, commercial fishing as well as lobster and shrimp fishing, became the main industry.

"You sound as if shrimp fishing is being dealt a death blow," she said.

In an abbey near Oostduinkerke, records have been found of shrimp fishing on horseback going back to the mid-1500's.

During this same time shrimp fishing was having an impact on the local economy.
