As expected, the hybridization signal decreases with increasing sequence divergence (Figure 10a).
The sequence divergence allow a great many different binding sites to be grafted onto the same basic domain.
Therefore this study underestimated that level of sequence divergence between chimpanzee and human.
This level of sequence divergence is unexpected, and warrants some thought.
B. The results (sequence divergence of 10-15 percent) suggest large differences between the two species.
The sequence divergence of the Xq13.3 region is surprisingly low between humans and chimpanzees.
These are usually stripped from the alignments before the calculation of sequence divergence is performed.
By comparing extant sequences, one can determine the amount of sequence divergence.
While their product can be estimated, the rate and time are not identifiable from sequence divergence.
Only the extreme of the C-terminal region shows a significant sequence divergence.
