Stu Ostro, the senior meteorologist for the Weather Channel, said that the most significant change happened late last week.

They call for "near-normal" temperatures and precipitation for most of New England, said Tony Barnston, the center's senior meteorologist.

The senior meteorologist had come across from Constellation with the admirals.

"In 18 years, this is the most ice I've ever seen accumulate," said Tom Moore, senior meteorologist with the Weather Channel, which is based here.

"We've got a lot of things working against us besides pollution," said Joseph C. Cassmassi, the district's senior meteorologist.

"Everything leafed out quickly because of the heat," said David Reynolds, a senior meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

Ken Reeves, who was "an expert senior meteorologist, vice president and general manager" with the company, died in March 2012 following a "tragic fall".

He was overruled by more senior meteorologists and the official forecast was for cloudy skies and gusty conditions - but no hurricane (Francis, 1998).
