Virginia sent Lee as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1782.

In 1787 and 1788 he was sent as a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress.

In 1881 he was sent to England as a delegate to the Methodist ecumenical council.

Maryland sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1778, and he represented his state through 1780.

Free of military responsibility, the state sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1779.

The assembly sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1789.

The following year that body sent him as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress.

Pennsylvania sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress twice, in 1784 and 1785.

The assembly in turn sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1781 and 1784.

Maryland sent him as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1785 and 1786.
