"This whole town was really getting into it," she said of the season.

"For a while now, I've been wishing it could go on," Morton said of the 2010 season.

"I've spent the rest of my career trying to overcome that," Easley said of the 1995 season.

"The last half was terrible," Low said of the season.

"There's such a Christian flavor to it," he said of the season, "that it's just not to my taste."

"For one thing, this is an election and an Olympics year," one agency executive said of the coming season.

Cash later said of the 1961 season: "It was a freak.

"If we don't win this ball game, we won't look at it as a success," he said of the season.
