"The question isn't who wants it," said Carl Andrews, who represents Brooklyn and plans to run for Congress in the fall.
He served in the New York State Assembly from 1995 to 1998, representing southern Brooklyn.
"Most of the rhetoric has been played out in the public and the press," said William C. Thompson Jr., the board member who represents Brooklyn.
So far, two elected officials who represent Brooklyn have indicated their strong interest in running against her.
"I have no concerns," said William C. Thompson, the board member representing Brooklyn.
Mr. Weiner, a congressman representing Brooklyn and Queens, was the first to go on the offensive.
"It shows the downside, absolutely," said William Thompson, the board member representing Brooklyn.
William C. Thompson Jr., the board member representing Brooklyn, applauded that provision.
"I'm proud to represent Brooklyn," she said.
