This crater is located in a region rich with prominent craters.

Quizapu, which formed during the 1846 eruption, is the most prominent crater.

It lies just to the northwest of the even larger and more prominent crater Grimaldi.

To the south is another prominent crater named Catharina.

The interior floor is relatively level, although a small but prominent crater occupies part of the southern half.

To the west is the small but prominent crater Timocharis.

The nearest feature of note is Euclides, a small but prominent crater to the west.

To the north-northwest lies the prominent crater Jackson, which is surrounded by a large ray system.

Just to the west is the slightly smaller but still prominent crater Hercules.

It is located to the west-northwest of the much larger and more prominent crater Chaplygin.
