Normington played as a professional for Grimsby Town between 2008 and 2010.

Gregory made his professional football debut in 1972, at the age of 18, when playing for Northampton Town.

He went on to play non-league football for Macclesfield Town.

His most prolific season was 62/63 when he played for Northampton Town scoring 25 goals in only 30 games.
