The camp was just south of town and housed over 10,000 inmates.

Over 350 inmates, including Witherspoon, had their death sentences reversed as a result.

The jail was completed in 1963 and at one time had over 2,000 inmates.

At the end of 2010, the state and federal correctional facilities housed over 1.6 million inmates.

It is now a women's prison that can accommodate over 170 inmates.
