The town expanded yet further and by 1938 it had reached over 30,000 inhabitants.

In January 2007, the total population of the metropolitan area was over 103,000 inhabitants.

In 2001 its population was over 6000 inhabitants, within an area of approximately 542 km2.

By the middle of the 18th century the population was over 19000 inhabitants.

In total it will govern a little over 4 million inhabitants, nearly 71% of the national population.

In 1905 the town reached over 5,000 inhabitants, but the population then gradually declined.

The city grew in population during the 19th century from little over 10,000 to 72,000 inhabitants.

Łódź in the 1890s already had over 300 000 inhabitants.

There are over 8500 inhabitants in the area today (April 2005).
