EIGHT AIRLINE MISHAPS By The Associated Press - Eight airplanes carrying more than 700 passengers made emergency or unscheduled landings over the past two days as crew members smelled smoke, spotted fuel leaks and noticed other potentially dangerous conditions, the authorities said yesterday.

The condition was diagnosed and named in 1979 by Italian psychiatrist Dr. Graziella Magherini, who had noticed similar psychosomatic conditions (racing heart beat, nausea and dizziness) amongst first-time visitors to the city.

He said, "I noticed similar conditions in the battle-fatigue syndrome when I was on the Dolphin."
