"I saw myself in a nontraditional job for women," said Ms. Bertucci, who grew up in Rochester.
"We anticipate introducing the young people to more nontraditional jobs, in which there are many more opportunities."
He added, "We are seeing more women successfully competing for these nontraditional jobs."
She noted in her paper that women are still overwhelmingly in female-dominated occupations, citing 1988 figures indicating that only 9 percent of working women have nontraditional jobs.
"Getting more women into the higher paying nontraditional jobs."
Women must be included in the initial development of the project; in the well-paying, nontraditional jobs that will be created and in the business opportunities that will become available.
In the late 1980's, only 2 percent to 9 percent of library science graduates took such nontraditional jobs.
It also hurts the women who have moved into nontraditional jobs.
