They are awarded for unpublished manuscripts in various fiction and non-fiction categories.

It was nominated for an emmy award in the outstanding non-fiction special category.

After twelve weeks on the The New York Times Best Seller list in the general non-fiction category, The Body Principal was the first "Advice, How-To, and Miscellaneous" number one best seller when that list debuted January 1, 1984.
