The miners went back to work completely crushed - worse off than before.
It was the first time since 1926 that British miners had gone on strike.
"Those miners are going to see everything even if I don't kick."
The miners refused to work the new hours and went on strike.
At one point the miners went on strike to demand their pay include travel time to the mine each morning.
"Come and see - here's where the miners went down," he said.
He wondered what the miner was going to use them for.
"I wish that the miners would all go back to the farm, but they are here and need work," he said.
The labor strike was unsuccessful, and the miners went back to work within a couple of months.
