Smooth the raw edges with a file, or shape the brick with a wood rasp or mill file.
Those for use on metal are called mill files.
When you are finished, remove the cutout and smooth the upper edge of the opening with a mill file.
A flat or half-round smooth-cutting mill file, either single- or double-cut, is preferred.
The side edge also can be filed with the 8-inch mill file by holding it at a 90-degree angle.
To do this, rub a mill file from the point where the base does not touch the snow, first to the tip and then to the tail of the ski.
Raw edges then can be filed smooth or the brick can be shaped further with a wood rasp or mill file.
If necessary, smooth beveled edges further with a single-cut mill file.
If the edges need sharpening, use an eight-inch mill file and finish off with 220-grit emery paper and a sharpening stone to polish the steel.
