The artery most commonly affected is the middle cerebral artery.
These regions mainly receive their blood supply from the middle cerebral artery.
The basilar artery and middle cerebral arteries, supplying the brain, are also considered part of the circle.
They supply the muscle, and anastomose with the middle temporal artery.
A fifth pair, small in size, is occasionally present: they arise from the middle sacral artery.
