We were now in what was known as "the lower village" of Montebello.
The church was on a small elevation, which descended sharply to the east toward the lower village some two hundred yards away.
In the lower village a few aboriginal families sell and display good quality arts & crafts.
And they were delighted - at first - with the workforce sent up from the lower village.
The Straußbuben from the lower village would do the reverse.
Since 2000, though, there have been no more Straußbuben in the lower village.
