Following the fugal sections, Brahms repeats the entire second movement (excluding the fugues) in D minor.

It replaces a shorter, less fugal section in the 1814 version.

There is then another longer fugal section, a variation of the main theme which modulates into a number of different keys along the way.

Ouverture (metrical sign is C for the opening section, 9/8 for the fast fugal section)

The final movement "Amen" contains a fugal section.

The French overture featured a quick fugal section after a slow introduction.

Next, it points up blurred entrances in a fugal section and sagging pitch in a descending melody.

It is more of a sonata movement with very substantial fugal sections, however.

This theme appeared only in the second version of the trio, replacing a more complex group of themes and a fugal section in the first version.

By the end the fugal section of the symphony came through with a slight lurching quality and was repeated in full focus.
