On the last episode of Raw, Orton defeated Triple H in a No disqualification match despite of their teammates interfering during the match.

The following week, they made it official by defeating Batista and Triple H, Orton's former stablemates, in a three-on-two handicap match, dubbing themselves The Legacy.

Benoit ended the storyline between the three at Backlash, when he defeated Michaels and Triple H in another Triple Threat match.

The following month at Judgment Day, Nash defeated Triple H in a standard wrestling match, also called a singles match, via disqualification but didn't win the championship.
