Whites make up 58% of the county population with Blacks following at 29%.
As of 1860, the county population was 709 persons, including 61 slaves.
In the 1950s, the county population was just under 24,000.
The county population was 534,543 according to the 2010 census.
"There certainly wasn't a 25 percent increase in county population during that period," he said.
Once home to over 10,000 residents, the county population declined below 5000 in 2006.
The 2008 county population is estimated to be 72,783, a 47.5% increase since 2000.
By 2008 the county population had grown 43% to 137,589.
As of the 2010 census, the county population was 9,409.
The County had a 3.6% growth which brought the county population to 21,381.
