In 1979, the Regional Plan Association, a research and planning agency for promoting the coordinated development of the metropolitan region of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, honored Mr. Crawford, a former chairman of the association, for his efforts to rebuild central cities through corporate, civic and government partnerships.

In 1985 he founded the Bürgerpartnerschaft Dritte Welt Idstein e.V. (Third World Civic Partnership Association Idstein) and later established a civic partnership between Idstein and his native Moshi.

Here, highway and landscape have begun to enter into a new civic partnership, one that fuses their traditional roles.

The congregation has participated in the civic partnership between Idstein and Moshi, founded by Werner Schuster, whose wife Gisela Schuster conducts the Flötenensemble (recorder ensemble) at the church.

The story of how the company and its home city worked together to accomplish the restoration is a model of civic and private partnership.

So what makes a successful civic partnership?

The term was initially used primarily by groups such as the Hartford-Springfield Economic Partnership to foster an economic, cultural, and civic partnership between the two major cities on the Connecticut River: Springfield, Massachusetts and Hartford, Connecticut.

In 2011, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching conferred upon SUNY Oneonta its Community Engagement Classification "in recognition of the college's civic partnerships and successful efforts to integrate service activities into its curriculum."
