"The zydeco players like the gumbo," said Mr. Blancher, so it must be pretty good.

John Blancher, the current owner, purchased it in 1988 and a year later turned it into a live music venue, while keeping the bowling alley active.

Mr. Blancher, who has been inundated with calls from clients whose air-conditioning motors were inundated, said with a shrug, "One-hundred year rains seem to come every year."
