"For a while the focus of black theater seemed limited to the family drama," he said.

"They started researching the lost black theater at the turn of the century," she said.

They set the path for black musical theater and performance in the years that followed.

"There are many serious issues facing black theaters," he said.

These include developing a public television series on black theater that would showcase some of the major companies.
