Bishop also wrote new connecting material and provided a timeline.
The bishop has written extensively on Catholic teaching regarding homosexuality.
"His body language spoke of his pain," the bishop wrote.
Bishop once wrote a little wistfully that children usually take their surroundings for granted.
The bishop wrote numerous small theological works, which the author's plain and simple language rendered very popular.
"Throughout the states, more than 3,500 prisoners await their deaths," the bishops wrote.
Priests must be able to work cooperatively and on equal terms with women, the bishops write.
The new international dialogue, the bishops wrote, is "an opportunity not yet a certainty" and cannot be expected to change the two nations' underlying differences.
