Such is a more active heritage from the whaling days than the Whaling Museum.

It seemed rather romantic to me, until I set foot in the Whaling Museum on Broad Street, one block away from the harbor.

The newly expanded Whaling Museum, one of 24 properties run by the Nantucket Historical Association, seems to be popular.

"Now you people probably haven't had a chance to visit the Whaling Museum, have you?"

Centre Street was down back of the Whaling Museum.

This year the Whaling Museum is closed, too, in the midst of a renovation.

After lunch we walked two blocks back to the Whaling Museum.

At Lajes, we spend an hour at the Whaling Museum with its full-sized replica of a wooden harpooning boat.
