"Watson Brown was our quarterback," he recalled.

Following the 1994 season, coach Hilyer would resign with Watson Brown being announced as the program's second ever coach on January 2, 1995.

"Too many turnovers," explained Watson Brown, the coach, whose team plays Army tomorrow at West Point.

"If there is a better player in the country, I haven't seen him," said Watson Brown, the Vanderbilt coach.

In 1948 he married Margaret "Bunty" Watson Brown.
