Vitamin Shoppe has opened more than 100 stores in the last five years, reaching net sales of $260 million last year.
Despite its growth, Vitamin Shoppe remains a bit player next to market leader General Nutrition Centers with some 5,300 stores.
It will be the home of Vitamin Shoppe, the discount retailer, which has leased 231,718 square feet of the 350,000-square-foot building.
That did not matter to Vitamin Shoppe, which has 100 stores and plans to open 50 more in the next 18 months.
The 25-year-old Vitamin Shoppe spent nine months searching for a new home before selecting the North Bergen building.
He said Vitamin Shoppe would expand the office space to 40,000 square feet, upgrade the building's exterior and perhaps create a 3,000- to 5,000-square-foot store.
The Vitamin Shoppe, with 10 stores, will introduce its h-treatment line of skin care products in time for Christmas.
One is the Vitamin Shoppe, a discounter based in North Bergen.
North Bergen is home to The Vitamin Shoppe's headquarters.
