An asterisk (*) indicates that Universities and/or Colleges have merged.

As of 1 January 2007, the University merged with the University of Copenhagen.

After being renamed as North Pacific College, that school merged into the then University of Oregon Medical School in 1945.

On 1 August 2007, the University of Paisley merged with Bell College, a higher education college based in Hamilton.

The University of Iceland merged with the University of Education on July 1, 2008.

In 2006 the University merged into the larger University of Tilburg.

The University of Peshawar merged the Department of Public and Business Administration into a single entity in 1994.

The University and the Dunedin College of Education (a specialist teacher training institution) merged on 1 January 2007.

The University has also merged with a number of other educational institutions.
