That outraged the Made in the USA Foundation, which is heading a group to buy Hathaway and save 300 American jobs.

"Before the Pepper commission, long-term care was a concept," said Ronald F. Pollack, executive director of the Families USA Foundation, which promotes the concerns of the elderly poor.

In 1984, Abramoff and other College Republicans formed the "USA Foundation".

The survey was conducted by the Families USA Foundation, a nonprofit advocacy group in Washington concerned with health care.

"If it's implemented properly, at least half of all uninsured children will get coverage," said Ronald Pollack, president of the Families USA Foundation.

Whiddon then became managing director of the USA Foundation.

Nine out of 10 uninsured children are from families in which one parent works, earning $17,000 to $28,000 a year, according to a report last month by the Families USA Foundation.

"Chicanery," said Ronald Pollack of the Families USA Foundation, one of about 100 advocacy groups that banded together to help defeat the plan.

The Families USA Foundation, a consumer group that specializes in health issues, said it had a copy of the health insurance lobby's plans.
