"About three years ago there was an acceptance by ski areas and snowboarding really began growing," said Paul Alden, president of the North American Snowboard Association.
"Unfortunately, the battle with the weather couldn't be won," said Tom Kelly, the vice president of public relations for the United States Ski and Snowboard Association.
A spokesman for the United States Ski and Snowboard Association said that the organization had no response.
They host the United States Ski and Snowboard Association which holds several skiing and snowboarding competitions on weekends.
