On 30 September 1954, it was amalgamated with The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment.
Supplies for the operation were landed by American landing craft from the 532nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment and brought forward using vehicles or carried by local porters.

In the northern area, 8th Brigade's North Shore Regiment moved against Wimille and the coastal settlement at Wimereux.
In the centre, the Chaudières avoided much of the fire directed at The North Shore Regiment as they advanced on Carpiquet.
The majority of these losses occurred on 4 July- the RWR and The North Shore Regiment took approximately 130 casualties each on the first day.
Later in January, the rest of B Company, 542nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment was sent to Saidor.
In the summer of 1951 she transported an Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment and a Naval Beach Unit to Thule, Greenland.
