Effective 15 September 1947, the squadron was activated at Selfridge Field, Michigan.
He then commanded the 1st Pursuit Group at Selfridge Field, Michigan.
Finally reduced to a staff of only 14 civilians, Selfridge Field for all practical purposes ceased to exist for government officials.
