This was all part of the "America's River Project," a $188 million revitalization of the North Port.
The program was sponsored by the River Project, a nonprofit marine science field station at Pier 26 dedicated to improving the Hudson's water quality.
"It's all new to us," the River Project's executive director, Cathy Drew, said of the nighttime dive.
The first nonprofit group on the piers, by all accounts, was Cathy Drew and her River Project.
The River Project hires scientific-minded high school and college students as interns, using money from grants and donations.
The River Project's telephone number is (212) 431-5787; the fax number is (212) 941-1719.
Cathy Drew, a marine biologist for the River Project, wants to remind them.
It migrated to the lower West Side of Manhattan last year, and was taken over by the River Project this summer.
Also, in this year, the festival formed a partnership with the Living River Project to bring water-themed events to Salisbury.
