The academy is implementing the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate system.

The Primary Years accredited schools are the first, and currently only, in Alabama.

In the Primary Years Programme, the formal experiential courses are physical education and music until grade 4, when outdoor education is added.

The Primary Years Programme is designed for students between the ages of 3 and 12 years.

Since 2000, it has been authorised to teach the Primary Years Programme for pupils aged 3 to 11.
