The Peale Museum started an American tradition of making the knowledge of science interesting and available to the general public.

The Municipal Museum of Baltimore, often called the Peale Museum, was build in 1813 by Robert Cary Long, Sr.

Peale was first exposed to the study of natural history while assisting his father on his many excursions in search of specimens for the Peale Museum.

Restored, it is now the Municipal Museum of Baltimore, or popularly the Peale Museum.

Renovated and restored again in 1981, it was reopened as the Peale Museum.

The Peale Museum was created by Charles Willson Peale.

The Museum underwent a major two year renovation starting in 1978 and was reopened in 1981 as Peale Museum.

In 1793, he made a trip to South America in order to collect specimens for the Peale Museum founded by his father.

In the early 1980s, the management, exhibits, and tours were combined with those of the former Peale Museum.

Those objects included the bear claw necklace, and its label from the Peale Museum identifying it as an artifact from the Lewis and Clark expedition.
