The deal follows a six-week auction among five hotel companies, including Marriott International and Patriot American.

But Patriot American, along with Starwood Lodging, is an exception.

About one-third of those hotels are owned by Patriot American.

Under the zoning, Patriot American can add 100 additional rooms to the hotel in addition to building 100,000 square feet of offices on the adjoining 4.25-acre site.

Patriot American is moving to adopt a similar structure.

Patriot American's stock is also sizzling.

Patriot American, another fast-growing hotel company, fell $1.625, or 5.8 percent, to $26.50.

It incorrectly excluded a smaller number of other hotels that Patriot American is acquiring in another deal.

The shares of Patriot American fell 25 cents, to $22.25.

Patriot American, which is based in Dallas, owns or has agreed to buy more than 55 hotels with more than 13,000 rooms.
