The orchestras at Sutherland have won many prestigious awards and consistently receive superior ratings at the many competitions they attend like the District 13 Orchestra Festival.

Ensembles that qualify through the district events are invited to the State Band, Choral and Orchestra Festivals.

On April 22, 2011, the Orchestra participated and played at Carnegie Hall in the National Invitational Band and Orchestra Festival.

Then, The Great Parade on Sunday and Monday is marked by an Orchestra Festival with Caribbean and Latin bands.
