Mr. Mirsky, the Oppenheimer analyst, said he did not think America's toy shelves would support too many more superhero characters.

Early in 1988, the company is expected to introduce its DinoRiders line, which the Oppenheimer analyst describes as "authentic scale replicas of dinosaurs, complete with battle gear."

Lior Bregman, Oppenheimer analyst, recommended the stock on news that the company has developed a new cellular telephone weighing less than a half pound.

"The key to their success has been putting a lot of management attention into carefully developing their acquisitions," Mr. Loeb, the Oppenheimer analyst, said.

Ms. Reif, the Oppenheimer analyst, said, "Anybody with a deal pending with CBS may rethink it now."

An Oppenheimer analyst, Edmund Spelman, dropped the issue from his recommended list, citing its recent price appreciation.

Traders said that Cecilia Brancato, an Oppenheimer analyst, raised her earnings estimate by about 20 cents for the year for the computer-networking systems company.
