"A woman had a medical condition," Ms. Meadow said yesterday.

At first, Ms. Meadow said, she was ambivalent about the honor.

Ms. Meadow said: "I didn't realize we would find someone quite this green.

"Nothing says you can't talk while you're on strike," Ms. Meadows said.

"It's the joining together for a cause that we felt in the 60's," Ms. Meadow said.

The production, said Ms. Meadow, is both a revue and a review.

"There are certainly more women in power, including directors," Ms. Meadow said.

Ms. Meadows said no one had suggested how pay increases could be financed.

"The smallest theater has to be concerned about keeping its doors open," Ms. Meadow said.

Ms. Meadows said he thus gave the teachers no choice but to stay out.
