The post office opened May 11, 1904, and the town became a flag stop on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad.
It was later purchased in 1923 by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad.
The space for the expansion was the right-of-way of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad.
