March delivery settled at $1.718 a pound, off 2.05 cents.

Corn for March delivery rose 3.75 cents, to $3.63 a bushel.

Coffee for March delivery rose 5.1 cents, to $1.237 a pound.

Silver for March delivery fell 15.2 cents, to $3.785 an ounce, its lowest level since 1976.

The contract for March delivery settled at 63.70 cents a pound.

"It's important to understand that at the moment, we are purchasing for March delivery," he said.

The spot contract, for March delivery, closed at the day's high of $6.008 an ounce.

On the international market, coffee for March delivery closed at 63.25 cents a pound this week.
