In 1841 he made two unsuccessful attempts to found journals, the English Journal and London Journal.
He then transferred to The London Journal as a major contributor until the end of his life.
His London Journal 1762-63, the first of the Yale journal publications, appeared in 1950.
From 1860 until his death twenty years later he edited The London Journal.
He also wrote for newspapers including the London Journal and The Speculatist.
He returned to the London Journal, however, ten years later.
He produced an impressive number of wood engravings for that publication and for The London Journal.
In November 1722 The London Journal ceased to attack the government end entered governmental service.

Their intended title, "The London Journal of Sociology", seems to have been changed by the publisher before the first issue was brought out.
