"King Biscuit started in 1973 as a way to bring live rock 'n' roll into people's living rooms," Mr. Ship said in a recent interview.
This was after Altamont, when there had been deaths at a rock concert, and King Biscuit provided a way to hear live music safely.
Starting with about 30 stations, King Biscuit now is broadcast on 200 radio stations nationwide.
"As the music has evolved, so has King Biscuit," Mr. Ship said.
"I wanted to be muscledom's King Biscuit," he said.
Prior to Wishbone Ash, Turner played with the Birmingham band, King Biscuit.
By the year 2000, King Biscuit was using CD-R media to distribute the show.
